CORNBREAD RECIPE FOR THANKSGINING


Cornbread is one of the many specialty breads that are made in America on Thanksgiving. It is a type of bread made with corn flour and it is great to dip in the sauces and gravies that accompany the famous stuffed turkey that I will try shortly. In Italy we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving but since we like to taste recipes that belong to other countries, yesterday I made this famous bread and I must say that we really liked it and we accompanied it with some cold cuts. I think I will bring it to the table on Christmas day. I recommend you to try it is a real treat. Let’s see what we need to make the Cornbread.

Ingredients

Preparation of Cornbread
  • 150 gflour
  • 150 gcorn flour
  • 2 teaspoonsbaking powder
  • 2 pinchesbaking soda
  • 1 teaspoonsalt
  • 1 tablespoonsugar
  • 200 gyogurt
  • 200 mlmilk
  • 1 tablespoonlemon
  • 2eggs
  • 120 gbutter

HOW TO MAKE CORNBREAD

In a bowl, bring together the yogurt, lemon and milk, mix and let sit for 20 minutes and then add the eggs and cold melted butter as well.
In another bowl, put the flours, baking soda, sugar, salt and baking powder and mix add the liquid mixture. Transfer everything to a baking pan lined with baking paper, level out well and bake, at 180 degrees for about 30/35 minutes but always adjust with your oven.
Remove the Cornbread from the oven, let it cool and cut it into square pieces. Enjoy with sauces or, as we did, with cold cuts.
