Ham and cheese potato lasagna is a kind of lasagna prepared without lasagna noodles: of cours it is not a real lasagna, but this easy and delicious dish is made of layers and layers of very thin potatoes, ham and cheese… so tasty! I often prepare ham and cheese potato lasagna because moreover it is a quick and easy recipe: just put the raw ingredients in the pan and then in the oven, without precooking anything.
To prepare ham and cheese potato lasagna without pre-cooking the potatoes it’s important, however, to cut the potatoes very thin, about 1/8 inch. To do this you can use a very sharp knife or, even better, a vegetable slicer, which also allows you to easily obtain potato slices all of the same thickness. Adding a little Parmesan cheese makes the ham and cheese potato lasagna even tastier and guarantees a perfect crust on the surface.

How to prepare ham and cheese potato lasagna
To prepare ham and cheese potato lasagna, start by peeling the potatoes. Wash them, dry them and cut them into very thin slices with a knife or a vegetable slicer.
Try to get slices of the same thickness as possible, which should be about 1/8 inch. Then cut the cheese into cubes or into very thin slices.
Lightly grease the bottom of an 8×8 inch baking dish with a little oil and form a layer of potatoes, overlapping them slightly; season with a pinch of salt and a drizzle of oil.
Place a slice of ham on top of the potatoes. Complete the first layer with a little bit of cheese and a little grated Parmesan.
Overlap a second layer of potatoes, season with oil and salt and cover with ham, cheese and parmesan.
Continue in this way, forming other layers, until all the ingredients are used up. Complete the ham and cheese potato lasagna with a final layer of potatoes; add a little cheese, a little Parmesan and a drizzle of oil.
Cover the baking dish with a sheet of tinfoil or baking paper and cook the ham and cheese potato lasagna in a preheated oven at 356° F (180 °C) for about 30 minutes.
Then uncover the pan and turn on the grill for a few minutes, until it is slightly golden on the surface,
Remove the ham and cheese potato lasagna from the oven and let it rest for about ten minutes before serving.

How to store ham and cheese potato lasagna
You can store the potato lasagna in the fridge for one day and heat it briefly in the oven or microwave before serving.
Tips and variation
As mentioned, it’s important that the potatoes are cut very thin and all of the same thickness. With the vegetable slicer it’s easy, but if you work with a knife and the potatoes are a little thicker, just extend the cooking time for 10-15 minutes, checking with a fork when the potatoes are soft.
