Ingredients

8.90 oz bread flour (250 g)
8.90 oz all purpose (AP) flour (250 g)
1.80 oz sugar (50 g)
2 eggs
7 oz milk (200 g – at room temperature)
2.46 oz unsalted butter (70 g)
1 pinch salt
1 teaspoon active dry yeast (5 g)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For filling

1 cup hazelnut spread

Tools

You need:

1 Planetary Mixer
1 Oven baking tray
1 Baking paper
1 Glass

Steps

1)

First, pour all the ingredients into the planetary mixer and start kneading with the hook, until you obtain a smooth and homogeneous dough: it will take approximately 10 – 15 minutes.

Then place the dough in a bowl and keep it rise until doubled in size, for approximately 1 – 2 hours (1); here the dough after leavening (2).

Now, divide the dough four equal pieces (3) and roll each piece into a ball (4).

2)

Roll out the first ball into a thin circle, place it on a baking tray covered with baking paper (5) and top with Nutella (or a similar hazelnut spread) (6).

Then roll out the second ball into a circle of the same size as the first, overlap it on the first circle and top with the hazelnut spread (Nutella); continue in the same way with the third ball. Then, roll out the last ball and place the circle on top of the others, leaving it bare.

3)

Put a glass in the center and cut the dough first into 4 equal parts, then into 8 and finally into 16 equal strips.

Take the strips 2 by 2, turning the right one clockwise twice and the left one counterclockwise twice (see the arrows in the photo). Or vice versa: I liked it that way.

If you want, join the ends, or leave them like me, like this. Let it rise for another hour, in the turned off oven.

4)

Then, preheat the oven to 356°F (180°C) in fan mode.

Once the leavening time has passed, brush with milk and bake in a preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.

And finally, remove from the oven and cool for about 20 minutes. If you like, dust with confectioners sugar on top and serve. Here it is. Star Bread with Hazelnut Spread is ready. Enjoy!
