Brussels sprouts in oil

Brussels sprouts in oil are the perfect way to preserve these little delicacies.

These little treasures of the earth are among the most misunderstood vegetables there are.

I love them and if cooked the right way they are real treats, when the season comes they are never missing in the house.

One day, however, I said to myself: “Why not preserve them and then be able to use them whenever I want?”.

And that’s how today’s recipe was born, infinitely simple to make and very quick to consume when the jar is opened.

In order to preserve them at their best, it is best to put the closed jar in a cool place out of the sun for 3 months.

Once the jar has been opened, keep it in the refrigerator, leaving the sprouts covered with extra virgin olive oil, they will be perfect for 2 weeks (but they will last less… 😁)

Requisite for this recipe is a high quality extra virgin olive oil!

Ingredients to Brussels sprouts in oil

20 brussels sprouts
1.4 ounces mixed peppercorns
3 leaves laurel
q.s. salt
q.s. extra-virgin olive oil

Tools to Brussels sprouts in oil

Chopping Board
Knife
Pan
Wooden Spoon
Jar with airtight lid

Steps to Brussels sprouts in oil

▪ Clean Brussels sprouts and after washing put them in a pan with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

▪ Cook on low heat for 20 minutes.

▪ Once ready let them cool completely.

▪ Take the jar and place a layer of Brussels sprouts.

▪ Add a few peppercorns.

▪ Add more Brussels sprouts and more peppercorns and continue until the jar is full.

▪ Once full cover completely with extra virgin olive oil.

▪ Cover with the laurel leaves and close the jar.

▪ Brussels sprouts in oil are ready!

▪ Enjoy!
