Cookies with applesauce. These cookies are with whole wheat flour but you can make them with an all purpose flour.
Soft cookies , guaranteed to be your new favorite cookie for fall. These cookies are also incredibly easy to make! When it comes to cookies, one of my favorites is this one! There’s something so comforting about biting into one that it’s almost impossible to resist. So today I wanted to share my apple cream cookie recipe!

Ingredients Cookies with applesauce

Apple sauce

4 apples
1/2 cup sugar (100 g)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder

For Cookies

4 cups wholemeal flour or flour 00 (450 g)
2 cups butter (250 g)
3 eggs
1/2 cup icing sugar (120 g)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
icing sugar (to sprinkle)


1 Bowl
1 Saucepan
1 Oven
1 Knife
Rolling pins
Blenders / Mixer

Steps Cookies with applesauce

Apple sauce

To prepare the apple juice we start by peeling the apples and cutting them into small pieces.
In a large saucepan we put the apples, sugar and lemon juice.
Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally to avoid burning, for 25-30 minutes. Blend with an immersion blender. The sauce should visibly thicken during this time and will thicken further when cooled.

For Cookies

First of all start preparing the shortcrust pastry, you can also prepare it the night before, the important thing is to cover it with plastic wrap and leave it in the refrigerator.
Pour the soft butter in the bowl, add the sugar the cinnamon powder and salt, work little with your hands add the eggs , always work quickly.
Finally add the flour, remove from the bowl and bring the cake base on the work surface to form a ball.

Composing Cookies with applesauce

Roll out the shortcrust pastry with the help of a rolling pin.
Cut strips 0.15 inches ( 4 mm ) thick and 8 inches ( 20 cm ) long.
In the center of each strip place applesauce.
Close the pastry by forming a cylinder.
Place in oven at 350° F (160° C). For 20 minutes
Turn off the oven let it cool and cut 3 inch ( 8 cm ) pieces.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar

Store leftovers for 3-4 days in an airtight container at room temperature. Or freeze in a zipper top bag with as much air as possible for up to 3 months.
