Apple Pie

Apple pie is one of my favorite pies.

My grandparents had a farm with lots of fruit trees and when the apples were ripe I would go pick them with my grandpa and then we would take them to my granny who made this fantastic Apple Pie.

I always wanted to eat it fresh from the oven, but it was really too hot and so my granny would put it to cool at the window like Grandma Duck did and the scent went all over the farm.

And when it was finally cold I always made a feast of it, sometimes giving me a stomach ache, but it was definitely worth it!

Ingredients to Apple Pie

  • 2 cupsflour (+ a sprinkle for the cake pan)
  • 1/4 cupsugar
  • 5 ouncesbutter (+ a bit to grease the cake pan)
  • 1/4 cupwater (cold)
  • 1 pinchsalt
  • 1.3 poundsapple
  • 3/4 cupmuscovado sugar
  • 3 tablespoonslemon juice
  • 1 tablespooncorn flour
  • 1/2 tablespoonlemon zest

  • Cake pan in diameter 7.8 inches

Preparation


  1. ▪ First prepare the dough for the base and to cover the cake.

    ▪ In a bowl put the flour, the white sugar, a pinch of salt and the butter into chunks.

    Knead until you get a grainy mixture.

    ▪ Add cold water and continue kneading until a ball forms.

    ▪ Move the dough into the food film and place in the fridge to cool for 30 minutes.

    ▪ Meanwhile, as the dough cools, prepare the apple pie filling, peel the apples and cut them into thin slices.

    ▪ Place the apple slices in the bowl.

    ▪ Add the zest of half a lemon.

    ▪ Squeeze the lemon and add 3 tablespoons of juice to the apple slices.

    ▪ Dissolve the muscovado sugar with a bit of water and add it to the apples.

    ▪ Add the corn flour and stirr whit a wooden spoon.

    ▪ Grease the pan with a bit of butter and sprinkle the flour, removing the excess.

    ▪ Preheat oven to 356°.

    ▪ Take 60% of dough, put it between 2 sheets of backing paper and form a disk of 9.4 inches.

    This will also cover the edges.

    ▪ Put the cake base into the cake pan.

    ▪ Prick the bottom with a fork.

    ▪ Pour the apple filling into the cake pan.

    ▪ With the rest of dough form a disk of 7.8 inches.

    ▪ Put the second disk up the cake and press the edges to seal them.

    ▪ By knife cut a bit of pasta on the top to avoid a cake explosion.

    Make the cuts cute so they are decorative.

    ▪ Bake for 30 minutes.

    ▪ Once out of the oven, let the cake cool.

    ▪ The Apple Pie is ready.
