Chocolate Salami (o Salame di cioccolato)

Chocolate Salami (o Salame di cioccolato), is a scrumptious no-bake Italian dessert that resembles a salami in appearance, but it’s made with cocoa biscuits, Nutella and other sweet ingredients. It’s a delightful treat that’s sure to impress your friends and family and it’s perfect for any occasion.

Here’s a basic recipe for an eggless chocolate salami to get you started.

Easy recipe, it only takes 10 minutes and 5 ingredients to make it: cocoa biscuits (Pandistelle), Oro Saiwa, Nutella, butter and hazelnuts. Once set, it’s dusted with powdered sugar, giving it the characteristic mottled appearance of a real salami.

Since this is a no-bake recipe, it’s easy to make. Just remember to chill it for long enough so it sets properly and in this way it will be easier to cut without it crumbling.

If you prefer, here is the version with eggs. We like them both.

Ingredients

3.5 oz cocoa biscuits (100g)
3.5 oz dry biscuits (100g)
3.5 oz unsalted butter (100g)
4 tablespoons Nutella®
1 oz chopped hazelnuts (30g)
q.s. icing sugar

Tools

1 Saucepan
or1 Bowl
Baking paper

Steps

1)

First, put the butter in a saucepan, melt it gently and let it cool. You can also put it in a small bowl and melt it in the microwave in short bursts. In the meantime, put the cocoa biscuits in the mixer and reduce them to crumbs;

put the dry biscuits in a food bag and crush them into small pieces. You don’t want them to be powder, but small chunks are ideal. In a large bowl, combine the crushed biscuits,

Nutella (melt it first in the microwave for a few seconds), melted butter, and cocoa powder. Add the chopped nuts as well. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.

2)

Lay out a large piece of parchment paper (or cling film). Spoon the chocolate mixture onto and shape it into a log or salami shape. Wrap it tightly and twist the ends.

Refrigerate the chocolate salami for several hours (at least 2 hours) or preferably overnight, to allow it to firm up. Before serving, dust the chocolate salami with icing sugar. Here it is. Chocolate salami is ready. Slice it into rounds and enjoy!
