0.8 pounds pasta (short type)
1 pound potato
Half onion (red or white)
q.s. salt
q.s. olive oil
q.s. black pepper
3.5 ounces parmesan cheese (or grana cheese, grated)

Pasta and potatoes step by step:

Peel the onion and cut it finely.

Peel the potatoes, rinse and cut into cubes.

Pasta and potatoes with parmesan and black pepper

Brown the onion in an abundant oil, add the potatoes, salt, pepper and let brown for at least ten minutes on a moderate flame.

Season the potatoes, add 1 glass of water and cook, it will take about 15 minutes over medium heat.

Put on the heat the water for pasta and salt just before it starts boiling.

cook the pasta (use a short tipe), drain it al dente, add it to the potatoes and add some cooking water.

Let it absorb stirring constantly, then add the grated cheese and mix.

Serve, give an abundant sprinkling of black pepper and serve still hot and steaming.
