Grandma’s APPLE Pie

One of the most loved desserts is apple pie.

Classic comfort food, soft and moist, with simple and genuine ingredients and easy to prepare.

There are hundreds of apple pie recipes, all very good, often from family tradition.

Today I decided to prepare with you the Grand’ma Apple Pie recipe: my grandmother!

She prepared it following a recipe book that was very popular in Ital in the 80s: the recipe book of nun Germana, a sprint nun who churned out all sorts of good things!

His recipe that has deservedly received the most success is definitely the apple pie recipe.

You can start enjoying the apple pie when it’s in the oven and it releases a scent that invades the whole house.

You can serve grandma’s apple pie fresh from the oven and still warm with ice cream, or simply sprinkle with icing sugar in any case it will be delicious!!!!!

Ingredients

11/2 cup all purpose (AP) flour
4.5 ounces unsalted butter
3.5 ounces sugar
3.5 tablespoons milk (about 50 ml)
2 apple
1 lemon zest
2 egg
1 sachet baking powder for sweets

Steps

step 1

In a large bowl, put soft unsalted butter and sugar and beat with an electric mixer until you get a light and frothy cream.

Combine eggs, one at a time, sifted flour with baking powder and grated (organic) lemon zest, always continue to beat with an electric whisk.

Finally add milk and beat until you get a homogeneous mixture.

Pour the mixture into a buttered and floured mould.

Peel apples, remove the core and cut apples into thin slices.

Arrange apple slices radially over the cake, covering the entire surface and finally sprinkle with sugar and a a few pieces of butter.

Bake at 350 F (175 C) for about 50 minutes: a golden crust must form on the surface of the cake.

Remove from the oven and leave to cool before removing from the mould.

Serve grandma’s apple pie by sprinkling the surface with icing sugar.

STORAGE

Grandma’s apple pie can be kept for up to 3 days in a closed container.

NOTE

It is normal for the apples to sink into the batter.

For a rustic taste you can use brown sugar instead of caster sugar.

To understand if the cake is cooked, do the test with toothpicks. Insert it into cake: if it comes out dry cake is ready, otherwise continue cooking for a few minutes.

No. The apple pie can be stored at room temperature (in a cool place), covered with a pie pan or wrapped in plastic wrap for up to 2 days.

But if you want it to last longer, put the cake in the fridge but for a maximum of 5/6 days.
