Savory pie crust

Would you like to prepare tasty savory pie, appetizers or nice desserts? If so and you haven’t at home the premade puff pastry sheets, you can prepare this wonderful Savory pie crust (in Italy it is called Pasta matta, that means crazy dought) and I am sure that you will love it! Sometimes in Italy, we make Puff pastry at home, but the original procedure it’s really long and complicated. This recipe is much faster and without butter, so let’s start to prepare it.

Ingredients

  • 1.75 cupsflour (all purposes type 00, 1+3/4 cups, gr. 200)
  • 1/2 cupwater (ml. 120)
  • 1.5 spoonsolive oil (gr. 20)
  • 1 pinchsalt (fine)

Preparation

  1. Here you are the ingredients, only four: water, all purposes flour type 00, olive oil and fine salt.

  2. On a work surface pour the flour, make a well in the center and slowly add the water and mix them together.

    After that, add the olive oil and the salt.

  3. Knead for 5-10 minutes, adding flour on the surface if necessary and knead again, the dough should be soft, smooth, elastic and not sticky. Cover the dough surface with little flour, wrap it in plastic and cover it with a cup, so it won’t dry out.

    Let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes before attempting to roll it out.

  4. The Savory pie crust is ready.
