The Green bean and broccoli casserole is a delicious dish, really tasty that usually is prepared for Thanksgiving. I have also added broccoli, but you can replace them with an equal amount of green beans.

Mushroom sauce
In a saucepan melt the butter and the garlic over medium-high heat for few seconds. Then add the mushrooms trimmed and thinly sliced and let it cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add in the milk and the flour, stir to combine.
Continue cooking the sauce for few minuts until it becames thickens.
Now blend the sauce with a hand blended.
Then place the sauce in the pan, add 1/2 cup of milk, still until combined, season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
To prepare vegetables
Heat a large pot of water over high-heat until boiling. Meanwhile, trim and cut the green beans and the broccoli. Then add the vegetables to the boiling water and cook for around 15 minutes, they should be soft, but not overcooked. Transfer the vegetables in a strainer and set aside.
Crispy onion and breadcrumbs
Melt the butter in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the onion thinly sliced and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the breadcrumbs and cook until it is lightly golden.
To assemble the dish
Combine green beans and broccoli with the mushroom sauce in a large bowl.
Stir until evenly combined.
Transfer to a 9 inches oven tray previously buttered and sprinkled with breadcrumbs. Spread inside the vegetables mixture in an even layer.
Sprinkle evenly with the crispy onion, breadcrumbs and grated parmesan.
Let it cook for 25 minutes at 356° F
